HEY KIDS!!!
Well, it will not be long before school starts! Are you ready? Do you have a backpack? I know that most of you use a backpack to carry all of your school supplies and books back and forth to school, so I want to tell you about something that we are going to do to help you get started in school this year. On Sunday, August 22 we will have a very special time in our worship service just for you! It is called “The Blessing of the Backpacks.” That morning please bring your backpack to the 11 o’clock service. Close to the beginning of the service we will ask you to bring the backpacks you will be using in school to the front of the church and lay them before the altar. We are also asking any teachers or other adults involved in education to bring their backpacks and briefcases, too. Then we are all going to join together and pray that the Lord will be with you in a very special way as you start this new school year.
I hope I will see you in church on August 22 for this special time just for you!
Brother Joel
Calling All Men!
All the men of the church are invited to a “brainstorming meeting” in the Fellowship Hall at 7:00 pm on Monday, August 16. Rev. McMahon will be serving you beef tenderloin, baked potatoes, and salad. Mrs. McMahon has agreed to fix banana pudding for us. During dessert we will talk about the things you would like to see happening at FUMC. Please be praying about the ministry for men that should be happening here at FUMC, and other ministries our church should be offering and undertaking. To make sure we have enough food, please call the church office or let Rev. McMahon know you will be coming by Thursday, August 12. You can email Rev. McMahon at “jdmcmahon@gmail.com”.
